Govt trying to attract more foreigners when Locals hav a hard time getting jobs

It’s good if the foreigner are here to fill up jobs which Singaporeans are not skilled to do. But many of these are working in positions (waiters, cust svc, etc) which can be filled by Singaporeans.

So check this out. The govt is recruiting more foreigners as the locals can’t find job. But some are not biting..

The agent kept selling Singapore to me and persuaded me to take up Singapore PR as the application for Canada work visa takes a long time. I refused. Singapore is not an attractive place at all. I rather stay put in Taiwan than to relocate to Singapore. At least it is a democracy here and we enjoy basic political freedoms. Who will be so stupid to bring up their children in a one-party dictatorship like Communist China? I know it is difficult to go to Canada, but I am willing to wait for 10, 20 and even 30 years to go there, otherwise I will just remain here – Taiwanese Reader of Temasek Review

Sad case lo. Locals are having such a hard time n govt is still trying to pull in more foreigners to compete with us, depressing our wages. :(

Newborn Dies as Docs Fight.. :(

This is sad.
A brazilian foetus dies in the womb as the delivery doctors fight.
Sadness…

One of the doctors confirmed to Globo TV that there was a fight in the delivery room, but blamed his colleague.
“I didn’t get in a fight with him, he got into a fight with me,” said Dr Sinomar Ricardo.
The station said it was unable to interview the second doctor.
According to Brazilian media, another member of staff was eventually able to help in an emergency caesarean section 90 minutes later, but the baby girl was born dead.

‘I don’t want to make accusations. But I can testify to one thing: up to the birth, my daughter was in full health,’ the husband said.

Request a cake from a bank…

kitchen tigress attempted to get a bday cake from OCBC (on her bdae) after watching their advert of giving away bdae cake. Note: the advrt does not specifically say that they give away bdae cakes…

Getting OCBC to cough up the cake was like prying something from a dead man’s cold, hard fingers. Or squeezing blood from a stone. But advertisements are so often deliberately misleading, I couldn’t resist the temptation to show an advertiser that misleading ads can sometimes backfire. A taste of its own medicine, perhaps?

via Kitchen Tigeress

There’s a sequel to the above, kitchen tigeress sent out a letter to the head honcho of OCBC informing him of the deed done and requested the manager be reimbursed.

I don’t know if the OCBC gentleman paid for the cake out of his own pocket but I’ve asked David Conner and Andrew Lee, respectively OCBC’s group CEO and Senior EVP of Global Consumer Financial Services, to make sure he’s reimbursed.

Exerpts from the Latest Kindness Movement

Our kindness movement was reported in the NYT! I personally think kindness stems from the heart and cannot be campaigned.

The current one shows people receiving daisies which i dun quite agree. It gives people the idea to expect to be rewarded with material after being kind.

Typically Singapore eh?

I do kind deeds out of my own accord, never brought about by the kindness movement and never expecting much in returns…

Bring on the Daisies, and Those Acts of Kindness

Reading Playboy for it’s articles…

An excerpt from a research paper from Harvard Business School:

when people behave in ways that might appear selfish, prejudiced, or perverted, they tend to engage a host of strategies designed to justify questionable behavior with rational excuses: “I hired my son because he’s more qualified.” “I promoted Ashley because she does a better job than Aisha.” Or, “I read Playboy for the articles.

Check it out. Gave me new insights…

As for me, I’m not gonna lie… I don’t read playboy for it’s articles. I don’t read playboy cos it’s not available!~ :P
